Private Thomas Snee

13065 6th East Lancashire Regiment.

Died of Wounds 1st February 1917. Aged  33.

Thomas was born in the June quarter of 1883 in Burnley. The son of Martin Snee and Maria Greenwood. In the 1891 census the family lived at 108 Burnley Rd, Burnley. Martin 31 stripper grinder was born in Hull, Yorkshire, Maria 30, Thomas *, Ellen 3 months and Annie Hamer 35 (Martin’s sister). Maria and the two children were all born in Burnley.

By 1901 the family had moved to 15 Cow Lane, Burnley Martin 34, Maria 34, Thomas 18, James 3 and Mary Greenwood  52, sister-in-law.

Thomas married Beatrice Heap in the Sept quarter of 1906 in Burnley. The family lived at 8 Union St in the 1911 census. Thomas 27, Beatrice 26, James Henry 3 and Mary greenwood 66, his aunt. Thomas and Beatrice had had two children and one had died in infancy.

Lived at 9 Union Street.

Thomas left his effects to his son James who was born 25th Jan 1908.

Thomas was buried in Amara War Cemetery, Iraq: Grave Ref; XXVII.A.7.
