Sergeant George Proctor Valentine.

Died of illness 20th December 1918, aged 47.
George was baptised on the 11th June 1871 in St James Church, Burnley. The son of Thomas Valentine and Margaret Proctor of Chancery St, Burnley. His father was a Stripper, Grinder. In the 1881 census the family lived at 4 Tales terrace, Burnley, Thomas 36 was born in Manchester. Margaret 32 throstle spinner was born in Liverpool, George 9, Catherine 6, Sarah 4and Thomas 1 month all except Sarah were born in Burnley. Sarah in Oldham.
George married Eliza Jane Munro in the March quarter of 1892 in Burnley.
In the 1901 census the family were living at 9Bedford St, Burnley. Margaret now a widow 52, George 29 weaver, Eliza 29 George’s wife, their children Sarah 2 and Margaret 8 and George’s sisters Margaret 11 and Sarah Casson 24.
In the 1911 census, George’s family had moved to 2 Duerden St, Burnley. George 39, Eliza 39, Margaret 18 weaver, Sarah 12 (who was born in Malta), Ena 5, Winifred 3 and George’s sister Margaret 21. George and Eliza had been married 19 years and had had 6 children 2 of whom had died.

George left his effects to his widow Eliza.
George was buried in Burnley Cemetery, England: Grave Ref; Screen wall. N.E.4713. Husband of Eliza Jane Valentine, of 33, Blundell St., Blackpool. (presumably Eliza move to Blackpool after his death).
