Charles was born in Burnley about 1897, the son of Thomas Edmondson and France Bland. In the 1901 census the family were living at 43 Heart(?) St, Burnley, Thomas 33 Cotton Mill Carter, Frances 29 and Charles 4 all born in Burnley.
In the 1911 census the expanding family had moved to 87 Leyland Rd, Burnley. Thomas 46, Frances 42, William 21, Charles 14, Mary Magdelene 2. His parents had been married 23 years and had had 3 children all surviving.

Mrs Edmondson who lives at 50 Milton Street, has heard that her son 141768 Private Charles Edmondson 21, Manchester Regiment MGC, was killed in action on June 2nd. He joined up in September 1916 and went on Active Service in March 1917. Formerly he was a weaver at Emmott's Burnley Lancs. He was an altar boy at St. Mary's RC Church and a Knight of the Sacred Heart. His brother Private W Edmondson was in the army before the war. Two cousins have been killed in action. Charles Edmondson was a young fellow of fine character and the news of his death will be received with regret by those who knew him.
Lived at 50 Milton Street.
Charles left his effects to his mother Frances.
Charles was buried in Couin New British Cemetery, France: Grave Ref; F.32. Son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Edmondson of 95 Leyland Road, Burnley.
