Died of Wounds 1st May 1918 in Stendale Hospital Germany, aged 30.
Daniel was born in the March quarter 1888, Burnley the son of James Flynn and Miss Sheridan.
From the Burnley Express dated 12th June 1918: DIED IN GERMAN HOSPITAL. SOLDIER EX SAILOR. HAD FOUGHT IN JUTLAND BATTLE.
Mrs King of 6 hilltop passage Burnley, has heard of the death of her brother, Daniel Flynn 30, 40123, Lancashire Fusiliers. The English president of Stendal Hospital Germany wrote that Private Flynn died from wounds on May the 1st. " He received the very best medical attention. " states the writer, " and he was nursed with the utmost care." The soldier was taken prisoner on April 9th, after being wounded in the left thigh; he sustained a smashed bone. Private Flynn was on Active Service with the land forces. Previously he was for three-and-a-half years in the Navy and during the course of the war had participated in several engagements in the North Sea. He fought in the Battle of Jutland. A single man, his marriage was fixed for next October.

Daniel was buried in Berlin South Western Cemetery, Germany: Grave Ref; I.F.10.
