Richard was born in the Sept quarter of 1900 in Burnley. The son of Kate Gallagher. In the 1901 census the family lived at 82 Leyland Rd, Burnley. Kate 29 born in Ireland, Oswald 7 born Burnley, Florence 5 born in Ireland, Richard 1 month born in Burnley.
The family had moved to 10 Bedford St, Burnley in the 1911 census. Oswald 44, miner born Burnley, Kate 41, Oswald Chris. 17 moulder, Florence 15, Richard and James Murray 2, grandson.

the Death took place on October 24th at Kinmel Park from pneumonia coma of Private Richard Hepworth 106295 of the kings Liverpool regiment, who 18 years of age had only joined up on September 9th last. He was the only son of Mr and Mrs Hepworth of 14 Athol Street Burnley, and the father is in the Royal Defence Corps serving in the Isle of Man. The deceased youth was connected with St Mary's Roman Catholic Church.

Richard left his effects to his father Oswald.
