Died of Wounds 19th March 1915, aged 40.

Richard was born in the Sept quarter of 1874 in Burnley. The son of Thomas Marsden and Winifred Tunney. In the 1881 census the family were living at 7 Job St, Burnley. Thomas 45 miner, Winifred 40 weaver, William 15 miner, Susannah Tunney (step daughter) 14, Hugh Tunney 12 (step son), John 10, Richard 7, Ellen 4 and Henry 1. All were born in Burnley.

In the 1891 census the family had moved to 2 Pump St(?), Burnley. Winifred now a widow 52, Hugh 21 miner, John 19, Richard 16 mechanic, Ellen 14 weaver and Henry 11.

Richard married Catherine Gaughan in1895 in Burnley Register Office.

In the 1911 census Richard 36 fitter, Catherine 34, Patrick Gaughan 55, father in law, Rose Ann 14, Winnie 12, Hugh 10, Ellen 6 and Richard 4 were living at 9 Greenhalgh St, Burnley.

Lived at 2 Greenhalgh Street.

Richard left his effects to his widow Catherine.

Richard was buried in Merville Communal Cemetery & Extension, France: Grave Ref; II.J.3.
