Private Thomas McCabe

5632 2nd Bn. Lancashire Fusiliers.

Died of Wounds 1st January 1916, aged 35.

Thomas was born about 1882 in Burnley. The son of Thomas McCabe and Catherine Morris. In the 1891 census the family were lodging with a Mrs Elizabeth McMullon and six others in 13 Unwin St, Burnley. Thomas 40 born in Liverpool, Catherine 39 weaver, Thomas 9, John 8, Edward 6, George 4, and Mary 9 months, all born in Burnley. There were only 4 rooms for 13 people.

In the 1901 census the family had moved to 10 Norton St, Burnley. Thomas 44 bricklayer, Catherine 46, Thomas 20 labourer, John 18 dyer, Edward 17 labourer, and a boarder James Doran.

Thomas married Rose Broderick in the June quarter of 1901 in Burnley.

He enlisted for war service on the 11th March 1915 in Huddersfield, Yorks..

Thomas left his effects to his widow Rose and his children, Mary, Thomas, Francis, and John

Thomas was buried in Moston (St. Joseph's) R.C. Cemetery, England: Grave Ref; Plot 168. Son of Tom and Kate McCabe, of Burnley; husband of Rose McCabe, of 2, Towlson's Yard, Moldgreen, Huddersfield.
