Lawrence was born in the March quarter of 1880 in Bacup, Lancs. The son of John Murray and Catherine Ann Green. In the 1891 census the family lived 10 Cross St, Burnley. John 29 weaver born in Manchester, Kate 29 weaver, Lawrence 11, Luke 5, all born in Bacup. Kate 7, and Maggie 3 born in Burnley.
By the time of the 1901 the family had moved to 12 Springfield Rd. John 39, Catherine 39, Lawrence 21, Catherine 16, Luke 14, Margaret 7.
Lawrence married Beatrice Nuttall in the March quarter of 1903 in Burnley.
In the 1911 census the family were living at 103 Waterloo Rd., Burnley and were still living there at the time of Lawrence’s death in 1921. Lawrence 32 weaver, Beatrice 28 born in Nelson, Francis 5, Luke 2 and Maggie 2 weeks. All the children were born in Burnley. They had been married 8 years and had had 5 children 2 of whom had died in infancy.
