From the Burnley Express dated 2nd February 1918:  FOURTH TIME WOUNDED.  Burnley Soldier's Death

It is officially reported that Pte. Robert Wrigley, 19096, of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, died of wounds in the chest on January 14.  The death place four days after the wounds were received.  Pte. R. Wrigley had received wounds in action three times previosuly.  In September, 1916, we reported that he had been severely wounded in the head.  His brother Pte. T. Wrigley was also wounded the same day, and we published photos of the two brothers.

Pte. R. Wrigley, who was married, with two children, and was 29 years of age, was a son of Mrs Whalley, late of 3 Linby Street, but who now resides at 98 Pendle View, Reedley Road, Reedley.  He was formerly a stripper and grinder at Hill Top Mill, and attended St. Mary's Church.  He enlisted about Burnley Fair, 1915, and went to the front the following October.  Besides the official intimation of his death, letters have been received from the nurse and the chaplain.
